About Game Trails Wildlife Studio

Testimonial

“I’ve been around taxidermy for 20 years, and Gametrails is everything a taxidermy shop should be. Great work, done in a timely manner by a great guy. Steve does excellent work with an eye for what looks right. I’ve seen him pull apart a mount and redo it if he wasn’t happy with how it looked. His operation is a far cry from ‘crank-’em-out’ taxidermy, and I would recommend his talent to anyone, from a kid’s first deer to a huge African safari. I guarantee that they’ll be thrilled with the results.” Scott Brown

The most used style of preserving trophies. Simple yet effective, the shoulder mount is the most common mount done in taxidermy. It has evolved from the “bar style” shoulder mount to many new stances and poses giving the animal character and life. New techniques in taxidermy coupled with the creativity of sculptures on the mannequins have given the taxidermist many methods of making trophies more lifelike than ever before.

Animals that deserve their beauty brought back to life are commonly done in a lifesize pose. Showing off the beautiful hide of a mountain goat or grizzly bear, or showing the majesty of an african lion or mountain lion are common reasons to preserve a trophy this way. The availability of new styles of poses and the ability to alter mannequins has given the taxidermist great avenues to make lifesize mounts very realistic and creative. New methods of preserving habitat and building artificial rocks made for natural scenes will make the trophy “pop” out in its natural habitat.

The gaining popularity of traveling overseas to hunt has given the taxidermist a new aspect to their business. Now there is a wide variety of mannequins that cover any type of animal that can be hunted in any country. With great reference photos and the wide variety of forms, the american taxidermist can create a beautiful mount of even the rarest animals for the hunter to treasure for their lifetime and future generations.
